Carrie Lane, MA, SAMP, Owner

Credentials: I hold a Master's degree in psychology from Seattle University (MA). I am a registered counselor in the state of Washington. I hold a practitioner's certification in small animal massage (SAMP) in maintenance massage and advanced rehabilitation massage, from the Northwest School of Animal Massage. I am trained in canine aquatic therapy through Cindy Horsfall's program at La Paw Spa. Additionally, I have enjoyed the benefits of warm water therapy with my own dogs. I began by observing while a swim therapist worked with my bullmastiff named, Owen. In 2003, I entered the water. It was through this process that I learned the healing power of the water and felt the desire to make this my life's work.

I am also certified in Pet First Aid through the American Red Cross.

I was introduced to Canine Water Therapy through my dog Art. He had his first knee surgeries when he was 6mths old. He is now 12yrs old and has benefited in many ways from the Warm Water Therapy over the past 8 years! After seeing how much the swimming and massage helped his mobility and spirits, I started my journey of training to be able to help other dogs in the same way. The Warm Water as well as the low impact exercise really helps to build up that muscle tone and keep the dogs strong while the massage/reiki helps to relax and help the body renew itself. I also love to work with senior dogs who also benefit from the power of the water.

Kristine Lemley, Swim Assistant

I first came to the pool for the needs of my own dog, Boomer. He had sprained his knee and broken his rear toe. With crate rest and limited exercise, this young dog was going stir crazy! The pool allowed him some much needed exercise without doing further damage to the knee and toe. While his recovery was quick, I now bring both of my dogs to the pool for weekly swims. I have had the joy of owning dogs since childhood, I can't remember a time when my best friend didn't have four legs! I have training in positive reinforcement obedience, Rally-O and conformation handling. My husband and I are very active, we love to be outdoors, either running or hiking and our dogs are with us all the way, and swimming has been a great way to increase their endurance and build muscle and most of all, Have Fun!

Margaret Jezek, Swim Coach

I have always loved to swim and used to teach swimming to special needs children. I have a Bernese Mountain Dog, Wrangler, and am active in drafting, obedience, tracking and agility with him. Wrangler started swimming in order to build up his strength and endurance. He has his novice draft dog title and is now working on his open draft dog title which means he will have to pull 80 pounds over a one half mile cross country trail. Wrangler needs to be in top shape in order to pull this much weight up a hill. Then one day Wrangler ruptured his cranial cruciate ligament and had TPLO surgery. During the four months that it takes to recover from this surgery, Wrangler swam and did physical therapy to keep him strong and to keep balance in his body. I was very thankful that Wrangler already knew how to swim so the physical therapy aspect of swimming could start with his first swim. In the time that I have been swimming dogs, I have come to appreciate the benefits of swimming for all dogs, but especially for the geriatric and injured dogs.
